A. The disability board shall be composed of the following five members:

1. Two members of the city council, to be appointed by the mayor.

2. Two active or retired law enforcement officers employed by or retired from the city, to be elected by the law enforcement officers employed by or retired from the city who are subject to the jurisdiction of the board. All law enforcement officers employed by or retired from the city are eligible for election.

3. One member from the public at large who resides within the city, to be appointed by the other four members designated in this section.

B. At the disability board’s direction, the mayor shall advertise and solicit applications from individuals desiring to serve as the at-large member.

C. If no eligible active or retired law enforcement officer is willing or able to be elected to the disability board pursuant to subsection (A)(2) of this section, then the following individuals may be elected to the disability board pursuant to subsection (A)(2) of this section:

1. Any active or retired law enforcement officer under Chapter 41.26 or 41.20 RCW who resides within the city; or

2. The surviving spouse or domestic partner of a law enforcement officer who is subject to the jurisdiction of the disability board. (Ord. 014/2023 § 1 (Exh. A))
