A. There is hereby created a seven-member board of park commissioners.

B. The mayor shall appoint the members of the park board subject to confirmation by the city council. The members shall reside within the limits of the city of Monroe, except the mayor may appoint, subject to confirmation by the city council, one board member from the city of Monroe’s urban growth area to fill a vacant position. The members shall be selected without respect to political affiliation.

C. Board members shall serve without compensation and may be reimbursed by the city for reasonable expenses incurred in their exercise of the official business of the board, consistent with the expense reimbursement policies of the city and as provided for in the general provisions of Chapter 4.10 MMC.
