It is the policy of this city to make effective preparation and use of staff, resources, and facilities for dealing with any emergency or disaster that may occur. Disasters and emergencies by their very nature may disrupt or destroy existing systems and the capability of the city of Monroe to respond to protect life, public health, property, economic well-being and essential city services. Therefore, residents are advised to be prepared to be on their own for at least two weeks should an emergency or disaster occur. (Ord. 008/2020 § 1)
