Unless provided otherwise on the face of the permit, every permit issued by the city under the provisions of this chapter shall expire ninety days after issuance of the permit. At the discretion of the city engineer, the city may extend the expiration date of a valid permit for no more than ninety additional days. Any additional extensions of time may be granted by the city engineer and shall require payment of an additional fee equal to the original permit application fee, provided a written request for extension is submitted to the city prior to the expiration of the permit as extended.
